DEXTER FINALE

I can't keep my words from spilling anymore! I took my anger to Twitter, to Facebook, and now I want to express some thoughts here too!

DEXTER FINALE....What a f**king tragedy! I know my blog is about fashion & crafts, but right now I have this huge grief in my heart...Forget about "heart"! My whole SOUL is in pain!

I have read the opinions of critics, directors' and producers' excuses, of WHY they ended the BEST show of our time this way, and not any other way! But I will tell you this!!

No matter how "immoral" some people may find the idea of Dexter, a man who kills bad people, let's face it, a lot of us sometimes wish for someone or something to take away those terrible humans, who only cause pain. Yeah, there is one electric chair somewhere in United States, but it doesn't solve the problem of HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS maniacs, pedophiles and other sick Homo sapiens.

So after 8 years and 8 incredible seasons journeying with Dexter through his difficult path, every one (and I mean EVERY ONE) wished him the best! Because for us he was like a dark Angel, saving & avenging the innocent in his own way.

Yeah, "he is not God to pull out judgments on others!", I hear you say. But the same goes for inhuman b***ards who rape, kill women, murder kids, torture little boys, or kill for money!
Therefore, out of all the possibilities, there is only one for Dexter- to be happy! For he was doing what many of us wish they could do! He deserved better!

And to those who argue that Dexter became human, and therefore, realised the full weight of his "sins", I will say this- If he indeed became more "human", than his FATHER instincts should have increased too! Therefore, he would be MORE WILLING to BE WITH and PROTECT his son! No matter how bad he thinks he is! Harrison is his blood! Hence, this "self-exile" that the show's writers tried to pull off, is complete and utter BULLSHIT!

Posting Images using HTML

A lot of people, especially us girls, don't know how to post images on the web! And I am not talking about uploading, but about placing a photo on a forum for example, after a text..

Well here is a screen shot I made on how to do it. Hope it helps. It took me sometime to figure out how, but it is very easy now!

Turbanasia

I remember posting about parasols as one of the good solutions for a hot sunny summer!
Now, that summer is over, one would think that there is no need for hair/head protection! That’s not entirely true. The sun may not be as strong in some places (not UAE though!), but there may be wind, rain and other weather conditions which could spoil your hair!
This is one of my newest looks from Lookbook. As you can see, I finally made an awesome-looking turban. However, it didn’t stay on long, as I am not good at fixing them yet! (Need some more practice!) You can see I was making it during the photoshoot itself!

Paired it with a pair of DIY cut-off jeans and a vintage vest which was passed to me by my bf’s mum. Of course, my favourite show-stoppers- Shadow Stud by Jeffrey Campbell.
Photo courtesy of my dear boyfriend, who patiently works with me and my endless style ideas!

Abu-Dhabi girl in Seoul

Annyeong Asseyo! ì•ˆë…•하세요

You may have been wondering where I have disappeared...Actually, I have been lucky to win a trip to Seoul, South Korea, from KIA motor company- all this thanks to my KIA Optima and a draw I entered online through their website!

(below- First photo at the Incheon Airport in Seoul)

So, I have spent 4 beautiful days in the capital of Republic Of Korea going on tours organized by the company, visiting different cultural & historical places, traditional cuisines, shopping streets, KIA & Hyundai Factories and HQs, and making friends with other winners from all over Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Obviously, I have made loooooooooooooads of photos- both on my iPhone 4s and Canon 550D. I have shared some of the iPhone photos on my Instagram, which you can check in the widget on the right, and I must say I'm very proud of how they came out!
Here are some along with my interpretation and description.

(Traditional Korean architecture- this was in the Korean Culture Village, something like an open-air museum)

A lot of Korean culture was influenced by Japan and China. For example, the social structure was affected by the Confucius philosophy, which emphasized separation of women from men at social gatherings, at home, etc. Women were not allowed to receive education, therefore, were pretty much left in shadows.

(A traditional Korean restaurant located at a mountain- will update the name latter).

King Sejong is one of the most important rulers, having created Korean alphabet- Hangul, as before this the Chinese characters were used in writing. There are two grand statues of King Sejong in the main square of Seoul, not far from the Gyeongbok palace, Sejong's residence. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily the day we visited the palace, and so I didn't get a chance to make photos of the King's replicas. Below you can see a lake view from inside the palace grounds..

I have to say, that I was immensely impressed by Republic of Korea as a nation and country- so neat, so clean, so organized! People are always helpful and SO hardworking!
The story of KIA was amazing- only truly hard-working dedicated people could achieve such growth and success within such a short span of time. KIA stepped its game in all aspects- design of their cars, quality of the finished products and customer care! Tell me, have you heard of ANY OTHER automobile company which invites more than 80 people from different countries, arranges airplane tickets, provides them with a stay in JW Marriot Hotel and all the food, takes their customers all around Seoul in comfortable buses?! No! ONLY KIA!

(The new luxurious KIA Quoris- K9 in Korea)

I am amazed at the thought and organization that has been invested into KIA Loyal Customer program 2012, and very thankful of course! On the last day (which was very sad!), we were given a group photo and a DVD with a short movie and photos, which were made by professional photographers, who were following us everywhere during the trip! A great way to keep these 4 days of fantastic experience in Korea in our memory forever! :D
Mind you, this program will be taking place EVERY YEAR! So get your new KIAs and wait for the new program to kick off next year! ;)

MY 7 DAYS IN UKRAINE

Hello to everyone! If you noticed, I have been away for the past 7 days. I have spent them in my motherland- Ukraine. It was a very short stay, limited even more by the road trip I had to make from our capital Kiev to my city in the south of Ukraine- 8 hours by bus!
However, I did manage to meet my good old childhood and school friends, have a few photoshoots for Lookbook, see my dear granddad and cousin, and obviously purchase some handmade priceless items, as well as FABRICS and cosmetics (including some new nail-polish colours)! :D
The weather was beautiful and I was lucky to get some rain on me! I will be posting all these photos later on, till now you may enjoy these few Instagram pics taken by iPhone! :)

View from my balcony. It’s like I live on a tree! :)

While riding the bus from Kiev to my city, it was raining and looking extremely beautiful outside!

A typical Ukrainian scenery- endless fields disappearing into the horizon, and fantastic cloud prints in the sky!

A little bit of food! These are called Zefir and I think are made of egg whites, sugar and some other ingredients. They are in a way similar to marshmallows, except for being less chewy. And that’s my new lilac nail-polish! ;)

New Blazer- DIY!

I have finally completed my Floral suit! If you remember, I finished these pretty floral shorts a couple of weeks ago. The floral fabric has been with me for a couple of years and originally belonged to my mum.      However, as she could not decide what she wanted, I took over!
Both, shorts and jacket, are designs from my beloved BURDA magazine, with some editions of my own.

If you notice, I added lace ribbons on the hem of the shorts and on the pockets of the jacket.
Another change I made to the jacket was adding 7 buttons, instead of 5. The buttons are beautiful and I have a lot of them, so seemed like a waste to use only 5.

And below you can see a close-up of the buttons I have used. They are vintage and were given to me by my granddad- he had a lot of old buttons left from my grandmothers, so this was a great way of utilizing them!

All these photos are posted on my Instagram: @susannavesna (SusannaVesna).
Also they could be found on my new blog: Susanna Vesna
Please don't forget to check out my new blog and follow me there, as I will be more active on that domain!

Love,
Susanna

Frida Kahlo- Mexican Icon

Sometimes, after surfing the internet you get inspired by unexpected things. Well, actually not very unexpected- Frida Kahlo is a renown Mexican artist who painted her reality, which despite being very colourful, most of the time carried a message of great internal pain and loneliness. I am not a big fan of "surrealistic" paintings (although Frida herself stated that her creations didn't belong to that particular art movement), so I would rather concentrate on Frida's style itself. Being greatly disadvantaged by unfortunate injuries & accidents, she draped herself in colourful and very folk clothes, adding signature scarves or flowers into her braids and hair.
These are a few photos of Frida herself, her self-portrait and a tribute to her by a modern artist & photographer Atelier Olschinsky. (For full photoshoot, click here and here)

Salma Hayek has portrayed Frida Kahlo in a 2002 movie Frida.

Shifting My Blog!

Dear friends!

I have decided to shift my blog to another address: Susanna Vesna. I think I am getting more and more seriously dedicated to my cause of Handcrafts & Fashion, therefore, it will require more investment into a better design and logistics! :)
I will keep this blog alive for sometime until I copy all my posts there.
So bear with me, I promise- the wait will be worth it! ;)

With love,

Emma Watson: The Fashion Icon who came out of Harry Potter

It has been almost exactly a year since the biggest, most influential Cinema and Book franchise had reached its grande and epic Finale! The books and movies might be over, but the effect they have left still lives on in their dedicated Potterheads and I dare say will live very long after we are gone! As you might have guessed- I am a Harry Potter fan! But not only of the book characters, but of the actors, who I grew up with! Especially Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. So I will start with Daniel...
...I think they have had it rough- facing the media, paparazzi and fans since a young age! I get so angry when these "yellow-press" websites post "Red Carpet Evolution of Radcliffe/Watson", showcasing their first photos, criticizing lack of taste and style! Have you checked YOUR childhood pics? Do YOU remember how your mummy would choose all your outfits and you would feel embarrassed cause your pants or shirt became suddenly too short for you? Yeah! Why don't you post that for us to criticize!
However, I think Emma and Dan (I don't see Rupert Grint that much) are making the haters eat their words now! Let us take a quick look at Dan, before we concentrate on Emma.

I have seen a lot of guys having this thick messy hair and eye-brows, pale skin, and specs sometimes. I think Harry Potter created a nerdy look which still had a flare of "cool" and "wind-blown"! And don't tell me that Edward Cullen was the one who started this trend!! Harry was there long before that blood-sucker met Bella Skank! (No offense to Robert Pattinson by the way!)

I know there was a lot of bad and mean words said about Daniel, including "gay" (How dare they!) and that he has no future in the cinematography. However, his latest movie and theatrical involvement (not every talented actor can handle theatre) and upcoming projects has left haters in more jealousy.

Screen shot of Daniel as Arthur Kipps in The Woman In Black
Classic fashion from past century suits him very well! I think he is becoming the new "Classic Movie" guy, since everyone else is occupied with "Super hero" and Rom-com genres.

Daniel at the premiere of HP 7: Deathly Hallows Part 1
It is great how he sticks to an official style, with suits made out of great fabrics.

He also wears casual very well! I know guys don't have that many colours in their wardrobe, so they have to  play around with stripes, checkers, denim and so on.

So now to our lovely or how fans like to call her, FLAWLESS Emma!

She has combined talent, unspoiled cuteness and grace in her! I know there have been a lot of teenage stars, who have crashed dramatically in their twenties only to find it so hard to return. Take Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears for example. The former still can't get back on track!
Emma walked into our hearts as a fluffy-haired nerdy nose-high-up Hermione Granger. In the first Harry Potter movies there was not much of fashion involved- it was more about the effects, the dragons, the majestic Hogwarts castle and the wizard atmosphere. They wore long black robes with a little pop of colour.

Fashion became loud in Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (4th movie) and it all started with this dress that has indicated that Hermione was no longer a little girl, but a flower which was about to blossom!

Her grand entrance made Harry and everyone else hold their breath and "WOW"!
It has not been the same since then- everywhere, in each fashion magazine you could see Emma showing off her style, even if she had a little help with it!

Her modelling career has shown her in another different light- Emma was sexy and distinctive! She has been modelling for Burberry and Lancome.

The first part of Harry Potter Finale (Deathly Hallows Part 1) again had fashion weaved through it!
Whether it was a party dress, casual jeans & blouse, or official look...Emma rocked them all!

Since then, the movie premiers were ALL about Emma. She wore minis, high heels and confidence!

At the final installment of Harry Potter premier in London...Emma looks like the Swan queen.

Even in real life she is perfect!

Just a little more of Emma and her beauty!

Emma was on the cover of Vogue last year and on many other covers! I am really proud of her and I can't wait to see her new movies! ("The Perks Of Being a Wallflower" - Her newest will be released in UK in November 2012! Don't miss it!)

A lot of these photos I have found on an amazing blog dedicated to Emma.
